MyTweetSpace

Posted by Betsy on December 28, 2008 in Uncategorized |

I tend to use Twitter very little because I don’t find it very interesting. Maybe I would find it more interesting if I knew more people who used it (follow me–I’ll follow you back!), but it seems like most people I know use their Facebook status message in much the same way. In fact, some […]

Facebook connect added

Posted by Betsy on December 21, 2008 in Personal, Uncategorized |

Image via Wikipedia I’ve been a bit of a Facebook addict lately, so no one should be surprised that I’ve added Facebook Connect to this here blog. Thanks, Sociable! You can check out the widget on the right. (You might need to scroll down to see it.) However, I’m not convinced that it’s working properly. […]

A second helping of MoFuse

Posted by Betsy on December 4, 2008 in Personal, Uncategorized |

The kind folks at MoFuse helpfully removed the ads from the mobile version of my site, and you can check it out here. I like it much better than the ad-plastered version. I like that I can include my custom logo and change the color scheme. However, you can only view the blog portion of […]

Mobile version of this site!

Posted by Betsy on December 1, 2008 in Personal, Uncategorized |

Thanks to Google and Cliotech, you can now view this site on a mobile phone: http://is.gd/9GdJ I tried MoFuse, too, but I didn’t like the ads–which they don’t show you in the preview! It also only really works for the blog, not for the rest of the site.

Posted by Betsy on November 25, 2008 in Language, Uncategorized |

I finally had some free time to work on getting some more content up here, and here’s the result: one complete online ESL course is up! I’d be happy to hear your comments on it. But please be kind–this was my first attempt at such a course, so it definitely is rough around the edges. […]

My final translation project

Posted by Betsy on November 23, 2008 in Language, Uncategorized |

It’s my last semester as an MA student, and one of my last courses is on translation between Japanese and English. One useful thing I’ve learned is the value of more than one head working on a translation, so as an experiment, I’m going to post the pre-final draft of my final project here. It’s […]

People really care about a Linux lab!

Posted by Betsy on November 18, 2008 in OpenSource, Uncategorized |

Last weekend, along with about 15 other people, I volunteered to help install a thin-client computer lab in an elementary school near Wainae. The clients were donated laptops that were headed for e-waste collection, and the server was also donated. All of this was possible through the great expertise and vision of a few core […]

Publication in HITESOL The Word

Posted by Betsy on October 19, 2008 in Language, Uncategorized |

I’ve been really busy writing my first draft of my scholarly paper–that’s the final paper I have to write to get my MA in second language studies. So I haven’t had much time to worry about updating this site. I am more or less done with that draft now, so I can slowly start adding […]
