International travel lessons

Posted by Betsy on September 3, 2008 in Language, Uncategorized |

Going through these lessons I made for a class about international travel brought back some less pleasant memories. I taught this particular class twice. The first time, I had only four or five students, and everything went really smoothly. So, the second time I taught it, I was expecting a similar situation–only to find that the students were sullen most of the time. Based on their feedback halfway through the term, I tried to liven up the class by supplementing the book with my own handouts–which you’ll find under the “Low Intermediate: International Travel Focus” section of this page. Although I think that most of these materials are designed fairly well, pretty much everything I tried flopped with this particular group. Or so it seemed. When I got back the final course evaluations, they had given me very positive feedback. It just goes to show that certain groups of students are really hard to read, I guess.
