Copy the following sentences and fill in the blanks with your own ideas.

1) If I had known you were here, I would _________________.

2) If _____________________, we would be angry.

3) They would ______________ if ______________________.

Next, write at least three of your own sentences using the pattern

If + had + verb (past participle), would + verb (infinitive)

or

If + had + verb (past participle) would + verb (present perfect).

Remember that the “if” part of the sentence causes the other part and that neither part of the sentence is true!
