Dimdim vs. Elluminate, Round 2

Posted by Betsy on April 23, 2010 in InstructionalDesign, OpenSource, Web2.0 |

Well, the status of that paper has been “in press” since it was accepted by TechTrends in December 2009. I was hoping to wait until it was “officially” published in TechTrends before publishing it […]

Push the BigBlueButton

Posted by Betsy on March 9, 2010 in OpenSource, Web2.0 |

When I try a web-conferencing product, I expect to find myself in a sterile demo room – alone and left to my own devices. When I tried BigBlueButton, I was momentarily confused. Many people were in the demo room. They were talking, text-chatting, pointing at slides – and one of the developers, Fred Dixon, starting […]

Cacoo – easy diagram creator

Posted by Betsy on December 3, 2009 in Web2.0 |

One great benefit of my current job is that I have access to lynda.com, where I can learn various tech skills. So far, I’ve learned to use Adobe Flash, ActionScript 3.0, and most recently, PHP. When you complete a course, which means viewing all of the instructional videos, you can download a PDF certificate of […]

Resume design

Posted by Betsy on March 27, 2009 in Personal, Web2.0 |

I’m looking for a job. I’ll be begging you for job leads soon enough (after I know where I’m moving to), but here’s what I’ve been absorbing: I’ve seen many blog posts and tweets recently about how to get a job using social media such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. (For example, there’s this Lifehacker […]
